My general concept for Little Shop of Horrors was to focus on the juxtaposition of the gloomy, grunge-y Skid Row in contrast to the upbeat, campy tone of the score under a new, late-1990s background. My goal as a director was to not only get a new take on a beloved classic, but to emphasize the horror elements that are usually glossed over in other retellings of this musical.
